Garden Week 4

I found a small volunteer tomato growing under one of the squash plants. It will be interesting to see what it produces.

The body of an 18-year-old woman was found hanging from a swing-set on the playground of the elementary school that I went to in Coppell.

Seriously creepy.

Garden Week 3

Finally planted the last tomatoes this week but accidentally killed two of them. That still leaves us with 5 total tomato plants so I think we’ll have plenty. Also added onions and marigolds plus a thick layer of leaves for mulch.

Are you paying attention?

Remember to watch out for cyclists.

Not much has changed. Had planned to plant the tomato babies but the frost warning for tonight worried me.

Are They Evil?

A few years ago, I had an idea for a website, I think it was going to be called “Are They Evil?”. Users would vote and comment on a company’s Social Responsibility - do they test on animals, use sweat-shops, etc.

There is a new website with a similar idea called Knowmore.org. The content is somewhat limited so far and it is wiki-based, which might be a problem for controversial topics, but I hope they are successful with the idea. They also want to create a browser extension that would warn you when you visit the website of a company that Knowmore considers bad. Kind of like the warnings you get when you visit a phishing site.

Travel Differently Day

Today was “Travel Differently Day”. Since using public transit wouldn’t be “different” for me and I wasn’t going to ride my bike due to the rain, I guess I should have driven to work today? Take a limo? Fly my helicopter? Hot-air balloon?

Hopefully the weather will be better for Bike-to-Work Week/Day.

Duck Typing

Took the scenic route home from the train station last night and ran into this large, weird looking bird. Renee says it looks like a duck but I am dubious. It was pretty tame though. Didn’t seem to be bothered by me or the cars and cyclists going by, within a few feet.
